Giana Salerno
choreographer, stage manager, ballroom/latin dancer, dance teacher, traveller, and nonconformist.
About
Giana is thrilled to be back making theatre after spending the last few months living in Spain. An avid theatre fan, she has seen over 100 different musicals and has been involved in various theatre crew since 5th grade. This past summer, she produced her own rock music themed ballroom and latin dance show where she was director, choreographer, principal performer, stage manager, lighting designer, costume designer, and co-sound designer. Giana is cross-trained in nearly all styles of dance including specialized authentic training in Medellín (Colombia), Vienna (Austria), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Seville (Spain) as well as with Dancing with the Stars pros Brandon Armstrong and Edyta Sliwinska. She currently works at the Glen Ellyn Park District growing their arts department as a theatre and dance teacher as well as stage managing and working on sound and lights for the Impact Dance Studio Competition Team showcases and recreational recitals. Ella habla español y está certificada en traducir. When she’s not behind the scenes or in the audience of a show, Giana enjoys travelling (having been to 43 states & 23 counties) and playing geography games.

Inspired by Dancing with the Stars, Giana aims to expose as many people as possible to the arts, no matter their background. She places emphasis on progress and fun rather than perfection and strives to create a welcoming yet productive environment. Giana is fueled by passion, having been dancing since age two and creating theatre since age ten. She is versatile, but she just might convince you that every work of theatre has room for a ballroom dance.
